The wage gap between male and female professional athletes is disturbing to say the least. The U.S. women’s soccer team that took home the 2014 World Cup took home $2 million as a team, while the German male team who won the World Cup pocketed $35 million in total. Why such a huge discrepancy? It’s not because of their skill, that for sure.
Brenda Perez, a professional soccer player from Spain can prove that women can play soccer just as good as the guys.
For the Spanish TV show “El Hormiguero,” Perez disguised herself as a man, complete with a wig, facial prosthesis, facial hair, and padding for her body. After she was transformed into “Dani Perez,” she was charged with the task of playing against some male soccer pros during a non-league match in Madrid.
In the video, you can see Brenda use her masterful footwork to easily slip past her male opponents. And then, right before she takes a penalty kick, she removes her disguise.
