No one saw this one coming.
One of the most shocking moments in UFC history happened on Saturday night when boxer-turned-MMA-fighter Holly Holm beat the undefeated champion Ronda Rousey to claim the bantamweight championship fight at UFC 193.
Holm knocked out Rousey 59 seconds into the second round with a left kick to the head. Rousey was rushed to a Melbourne hospital following the fight, where UFC president Dana White said she was devastated but physically okay.
“I just wanted to thank everyone for the love and support,” she wrote on Instagram. “I appreciate the concerns about my health, but I’m fine. As I had mentioned before, I’m going to take a little bit of time, but I’ll be back.”
Ronda’s defeat stripped her of the UFC Women’s Bantamweight title and ended her 12-fight winning streak.
