Live from The Hydro arena in Glasgow, Scotland, Nicki Minaj hosted the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards, which featured lively performances from all-star acts like Fifth Harmony, Enrique Iglesias, Charli XCX, Ariana Grande, U2, and Alicia Keys, among others.
Ariana Grande kicked off the EMAs with a medley performance of her hit songs “Problem” and “Break Free.” The 21-year-old singer also took home two awards for Best Song and Best Female Artist.
Shockingly, there was the large number of stars absent, among them were the biggest winners of the event: One Direction and Katy Perry. One Direction took home three awards, including the award for Biggest Fans and accepted the award via satellite.
One of the biggest moments of the night was when Spanish crooner Enrique Iglesias took to the stage for a fiery bilingual performance of “I’m A Freak” and “Bailando.” The singer also took home the honor for Best World Stage.
