On Tuesday, Kelly Osbourne had one of the biggest foot-in-mouth moments in television history. While on The View discussing Donald Trump’s campaign and his past racist comments regarding Mexican immigrants, Kelly Osbourne said a racist comment of her own, when she asked, “If you kick all the Latinos out of this country, who’s going to clean your toilet, Donald Trump?”
Osbourne quickly began trending on Twitter, and people started using the hashtag #QueridaKellyOsbourne to share their feelings about her comments with her, though Rosie later tweeted an apology for cutting Kelly off while she was speaking.
She shared a public apology on her Facebook page shortly afar the incident, and Wednesday, she sat down with an interview for Extra where she clarified her comments further: “If I saw that clip with just the 10 seconds, I’d hate me too,” she said. “I’m OK with people calling me whatever they want to call me, however, I’m not OK that I hurt people’s feelings. It was my poor choice of words and it doesn’t reflect my opinion at all, and I do not want to be pulled into this political nightmare.”
Kelly also stressed that she didn’t think Perez had needed to apologize for anything. “I don’t quite understand how it got this big, considering Rosie and I are really good friends … she felt bad because she knew when she stopped me I didn’t get to finish my point, but I also knew that she was only trying to protect her community, which she should, and I couldn’t understand why she was apologizing. I couldn’t let her take the heat. It came out of my mouth, and I will do whatever I have to do to make it right.”
