Ecuador will make history this Super Bowl Sunday as the first foreign country to have a tourism commercial air during the biggest night in American football.
Ecuador wants more U.S. tourists, so they paid a staggering $3.8 million for the advertisement as part of a billion-dollar initiative to improve travel infrastructure, reports Fox News Latino.
The 30-second advertisement, which will air during halftime, plays to the tune of “All You Need Is Love” by The Beatles.
According to Yahoo! Travel, the United States is the country’s second-largest tourism market. An estimated one-in-four American tourists visit the country specifically to tour the infamous Galapagos Islands.
However, the country wants Americans — and the world — to travel beyond the country’s lush archipelago made famous by Charles Darwin, and to discover all the countrywide hidden gems Ecuador has to offer.
The country also wants to promote such attractions as Quito’s urban life, Cuenca’s colonial charm, and the diverse rain forests.
