ChapStick Hydration Lock, Vanilla Creme, $2.99; Drugstore.com
Moisturize your lips with lip balm and let it sink in for a minimum of five minutes. For faster application, blot off the excess lip balm with tissue.
MAC Lip Pencil in Redd , $16; Nordstrom
Define the natural shape of your lip with lip liner. Pro tip: Start by making an x at the Cupid’s bow.
MAC Lipstick in Russian Red, $16; Nordstrom
Fill in your entire upper and bottom lip with liner. Lip liner is drier than lipstick and will adhere to your lips, which will help the color stick on, even if your creamy lipstick formula wears off.
Eco Tools Detailed Lip Brush, $3.99; Drugstore.com
Use a lip brush to apply lipstick. You can also just apply straight from the tube, but using a brush allows for more precision and will give you more control. Start in the center, and work your way out toward the edges.
Mary Kay Beauty Blotters® Oil-Absorbing Tissues, $6; Mary Kay
Blot with a one-ply sheet of tissue, then reapply.
Hold a clean one-ply tissue over your lips, and dust with translucent powder. The tissue keeps excess powder from settling on your lips.
