Keeping your skin clean is the key to a smooth, healthy, and moisturized looking face. If you are faithful to your facial cleansing routine you can delay the appearance of wrinkles and prevent premature aging and redness.
Wash your face daily
Removing your makeup every day is the most important task in achieving a clear complexion. Although you can’t notice it, the environment is polluted with bacteria that penetrates your skin through the pores and if you add on layers of makeup, you can pretty much say that at the end of the day, your face is carrying tons of germs (gross!). Make sure to wash your face before going to sleep and in the morning to remove the oil that is produced overnight. Sleeping with makeup on accelerates aging, enlarges pores, causes blackheads, and promotes the appearance of wrinkles and acne. Use a cleanser for your specific skin type. If you have oily skin, opt for light cleanser and avoid those that are creamy or oily.
Exfoliating at least once a week is essential to remove dead skin cells, grease, and pollution accumulated dirt and makeup residue that your facial cleanser can’t remove on it’s own. When you exfoliate, your skin breathes and better absorbs the nutrients of your anti-aging creams and products.
After exfoliating or washing your face, it’s is important to apply a toner. Toners are ideal for the removal of soil residues that may be left on the face even after washing.
Moisturizing your skin makes your skin look smooth, soft, and prevents redness and wrinkles. Every day, before your makeup routine and before bed, apply moisturizer. Apply it using your fingertips and gently pat and extend the product all over the face. Let the skin absorb the cream before applying your makeup or lying in bed, otherwise it won’t work.
Starting at age 25, every woman should start using anti-wrinkle creams. The ideal time to apply is right after washing your face. Remember that the skin around the eyes is very delicate, so you should use an eye cream to avoid the appearance of wrinkles in this area and provide the hydration you need.
Get a facial
You should pamper your face with a deep skin cleansing treatment at a spa or dermatologist at least every six months. The process consists of a moisturizing mask or ideally, a microdermabrasion (a treatment that removes impurities from the skin), exfoliation, cleansing, and a nourishing or soothing mask. It’s important to note that after a deep cleansing, your face may appear red or begin to peel, so it’s wise to get a facial a week before a major event.
